Sports injury rehab

Sports Injury Rehabilitation at Avalon Physio is designed to help athletes and active individuals recover from various sports-related injuries. Whether you are dealing with an ankle, knee, hip, shoulder, or general muscle injury, our comprehensive rehab programs aim to restore function, alleviate pain, and prevent future injuries. Sports injuries can occur from overuse, trauma, or improper technique, and effective rehabilitation is crucial to ensure a safe and full recovery.

How we can help:
  • Assessment: We start with a thorough evaluation of your injury, including a physical examination and discussion of your symptoms and activity level. This helps us understand the severity and cause of your injury.
  • Personalised Multi-faceted Treatment Plan: Based on the assessment, we develop a customised rehabilitation plan tailored to your specific injury and recovery goals. Our treatment methods include:
    • Manual Therapy: Hands-on techniques such as joint mobilisation, soft tissue manipulation, and myofascial release to reduce pain and improve mobility.
    • Dry Needling: Inserting thin needles into trigger points in the muscles to alleviate pain and promote healing.
    • Exercise Therapy: A structured exercise program to strengthen affected muscles, improve flexibility, and enhance overall function. This includes targeted exercises for specific injuries like ankle sprains, knee ligament tears, hip strains, and shoulder dislocations.
    • Injury Prevention: Education and exercises designed to prevent re-injury and improve overall athletic performance. This may include technique correction, strength training, and flexibility exercises.
  • Integrated Approach: Our sports injury rehab program often combines multiple treatment modalities to provide comprehensive care and ensure the best possible outcomes.
  • Ongoing Support: Regular follow-up sessions to monitor your progress, adjust your treatment plan, and provide continuous support to help you return to your sport safely and effectively.
