The Running Clinic at Avalon Physio is designed to analyse and improve your running technique and gait. This service is targeted at both competitive elite level athletes and individuals who want to start running with the correct technique to prevent injuries and enhance performance. Running technique analysis involves a comprehensive assessment of your running form, biomechanics, and gait patterns to identify any issues that may lead to injuries or suboptimal performance.
The Running Clinic is beneficial for both seasoned athletes looking to optimise their performance and individuals new to running who want to ensure they start with the correct technique. It helps prevent injuries and improve running efficiency for all levels of runners.
The analysis involves video recording your running form from multiple angles. Our physiotherapists then scrutinise the footage in ultra-slow motion to analyse your biomechanics and identify any issues. This detailed analysis forms the basis of your personalised training plan.
Yes, the Running Clinic can help identify the underlying causes of your injuries and provide targeted interventions to address them. By correcting your running technique and addressing any imbalances, we can help you recover from injuries and prevent future ones.
Just 1-2 sessions is enough!
Once we have done the full assessment you will then come in for another appointment in which we will go through adjustments to gait, an exercise program or additions/alterations to your pre-existing one where appropriate as well as injury prevention information for runners.
You don’t need any special equipment for the analysis. Just wear comfortable running attire and your usual running shoes. If specific footwear or orthotics are recommended, we will advise you during the assessment.
